Message from Age Concern to fix Central Heating now before the long cold months set in
Local Age Concern officers in Ledbury and Bromyard are urging Elderly people to have their central heating serviced now, before winter really and truly sets in, as the waiting time is likely to be less if work is required to be carried out.
“We know only too well that for old people, protection against the cold is vital and that freezing temperatures pose a serious threat to health. We are urging friends, neighbours and families to help older people to check their systems now, and also get any problems fixed before winter arrives”, stated Wendy Middleton of Age Concern.
This is the second such story we’ve featured in the space of 3 weeks that concerns this particular charities plea to help elderly people, with the other from September 2nd telling the sad story of Betty Ann Dark, a pensioner who dies from hypothermia last winter, as she couldn’t afford to run her heater.
