New Green Energy Training Centre launching to train more green experts
A new College in Merseyside is under construction which will be known as the Green Energy Training Centre (GETC). The purpose of the centre is to produce skilled contractors with the ability to install micro generation technologies, such as solar panels.
The companies managing director, Mark McManus, explains that there is “massive pressure on the construction industry to ramp up its knowledge of – and expertise in – green energy.” This is especially true now, considering all new homes need to be carbon neutral by 2016.
The first batch of engineers, electricians and plumbers are expected this November, and the courses they take will be accredited under the government’s Micro generation Certification scheme, which is something of a benchmark for contractors hoping to work in the field.

That’s good to hear. More skilled contractors will hopefully put an end to work being carried out by unregistered engineers.
